Take the Leap

My very first blog post. It's a little surreal. I never thought I was creative enough to have my own blog. People have always told me I'm good with words, and they're always coming to me for advice on how to word certain things (like important emails and messages), but I never imagined I'd be here. This is completely out of my comfort zone. And it feels really good.

I'm going to start simple and tell you a little about me. I am 28 years old, and I live in the Midwest. I have a gorgeous 8-year-old daughter and an adorable 5-year-old Australian Shepherd. I'm not quite comfortable sharing pictures of my daughter on a public platform, but I'll absolutely show you my dog. Her name is Elsa, courtesy of my then-3-year-old. We now call her Stinky majority of the time and I love it. She's the best, most loyal dog and we love her so much.

My daughter's name is Everly, and I meant it when I said she's gorgeous. She has the most beautiful tanned, olive skin tone and brown eyes that pull you right in. She's fierce, strong, captivating, crazy smart, and unbelievably kind-hearted. She cares so deeply about those around her and shows it in the sweetest ways. Of course, like any other child, she's sassy and strong-willed and some days I don't know how I'm going to survive. But man, I wouldn't trade that girl for the world.

I mentioned on my "About" page on my website that I'm a full-time nursing student. Let me tell you about nursing school: that stuff is HARD. Nothing can truly prepare you for it, but I have wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl so my passion for the field keeps me going. I love forming relationships and building trust with people. I love being a caretaker. I love helping people. I love science and the human body. I love emergencies and the unpredictability and working under pressure. I love being a light in someone's life during a difficult time. If I can make a difference in just one person's life, I'll be content for the rest of mine.

I think that's enough introduction for now. Let's dive into the real reason behind this blog post. Taking a leap. Going for it. Pursuing your passion(s). I used to carry this idea that I wasn't worthy of utilizing social media to share what I love. I know, silly right? Millions of other people do it, why can't I? Like previously mentioned, I also didn't think I would be any good at it. But who gets to define what being "good" at it really means anyway? Everybody is different, has different opinions, styles, etc. I am me, and there is nobody else like me. So, I'm going to share MY style and hope someone else loves it too. I love home decor and decorating, organization in my home and my life, and all things related to cleaning. That's what my website and my blog are going to be focused around. I'm finding that I also have a bit of an interest in fashion and DIY, so I'll be dipping my toes into those pools as well. I believe style and comfort should be accessible to everyone, and I'm going to do my best to provide the best inspiration and products for you.

If you've gotten this far, I can't properly tell you how much I appreciate you being here. And if you're willing to stick around, I'll be especially grateful. Who knows, this could crash and burn. Or it could exceed my expectations and dreams. I'll never know if I don't try.

Talk soon,

Laura June
